Where to apply: To apply for your Indiana Handgun Carry Permit you need to visit the governing law enforcement agency in your area. (ie; Police, Sheriff, etc.) For example, residents of Fort Wayne living inside the city limits will visit the Fort Wayne Police Department to apply for a permit. Residents that live outside the city limits of Fort Wayne will visit the Allen County Sheriffs Office to apply.

Cost: The cost for the Indiana Handgun Carry Permit is $25.00. In most cases you will be required to make one payment to each of the two agencies that are involved in the approval process. First you will probably pay your local Police or Sheriff a fee of $10.00. Then you will pay the State Police a fee of $15.00 for a total of $25.00.

Expiration: The Indiana Handgun Carry Permit is valid for a period of four years then it must be renewed. Also, if you change addresses within the four year period then your permit needs to be renewed.

Where you can carry: You can carry your handgun most anywhere as long it is not posted that firearms are not allowed. You absolutely cannot carry a firearm into any federal or local courthouse, airport, or public school. In order to be sure that you are in compliance with the law you should always consult your attorney first and not this website. :)
