Where
to apply: To apply for your Indiana Handgun Carry
Permit you need to visit the governing law enforcement agency
in your area. (ie; Police, Sheriff,etc.) For example, residents
of Fort Wayne living inside the city limits will visit the
Fort Wayne Police Department to apply for a permit. Residents
that live outside the city limits of Fort Wayne will visit
the Allen County Sheriffs Office to apply.
Cost:
The cost for the Indiana Handgun Carry Permit is $25.00. In
most cases you will be required to make one payment to each
of the two agencies that are involved in the approval process.
First you will probably pay your local Police or Sheriff
a fee of $10.00. Then you will pay the State Police a fee
of $15.00 for a total of $25.00.
Expiration:
The Indiana Handgun Carry Permit is valid for a period of
four years then it must be renewed. Also, if you change addresses
within the four year period then your permit needs to be renewed.
Where
you can carry: You can carry your handgun most
anywhere as long it is not posted that firearms are not allowed.
You absolutely cannot carry a firearm into any federal or
local courthouse, airport, or public school. In order to be
sure that you are in compliance with the law you should always
consult your attorney first and not this website. :)
